"Yea, sure. Why the sudden interest in my house?" 

"Well, I'm in this sign language language class, and it's a requirement to hang out with deaf people, and I remember you telling me that your parents were deaf. So it'd be really cool if I could come over and sign with them." 

"I said my parents were dead." 

"Oh. So you don't know any deaf people?"
